Happy 2013

Time check: 03:15am. Eye check: wide and normally blinking; so we are still good to blog.

HELLO 2013!!!! Oh, yeah! I know you were shouting that on your mind right now! Haha... 2012 had been so good to me, I consider it one of my best years. It may have been a perfect mix of emotions, but all I can remember now are the great and happy ones and all the opportunities that I was given. The year 2013 promises even bigger opportunities - some outrageous and overly ambitious, I cannot even imagine myself being part of them. These things are still a blur right now, but I always believe that if God planned it for us, then things will just go perfectly.

Anyway, I just cannot let the first day of 2013 totally take over without posting some pictures of my bestest friends' year-end get-together. I just can't thank the heavens enough for blessing me with these crazy and wonderful people to share my ups and downs with. Whenever we finally find a common free time to meet up, it feels like everything in the world is right. We succumb into our own, wonderful world, unmindful of the people and all the things around, and we are just happy - not the okay-lets-put-on-some-effort kind of happy, but the nothing-can-ever-be-more-genuine-than-this-crazy-happy kind.

So, from my crazy friends, Jheck, Jhet and I: A blessed and prosperous New Year to all of you!

Metro Chic

Combining prints is always a risky move. Take that from the fashion gurus and experienced fashion bloggers around. However, knowing how to experiment a little (and breaking a few rules on the side) can actually make one combine pieces that actually work, and create a look that seems so effortlessly put together. Like this outfit perhaps, a close look can tell you the prints on the dress and the bag are not actually alike. But when you take the whole outfit in, you realize that the match is made from the colors and the flow and direction of the prints.

That eye-candy of a satchel is actually a gift from my sister (isn't she sweet?). She won it from their company's Christmas Raffles (c/o Cebu Metro Chic). I immediately fell in love with it the moment I saw it; and now I just can't seem to have enough of its gorgeous prints and colors that I use it everyday! Talk about satchel obsession!

Denim on Pleats

Ok, I know I'm supposed to post something a little Christmas-y here, but I get super lazy these days that I don't even bother taking outfit shots (this one's pending for quite some time now). Most of the time, I even put on the pieces that I get hold of first - not thinking much about pairing and layering. Perhaps, it's the weather or the traffic or the frenzy all around... or perhaps it's just me, not feeling much the spirit. I don't even know why, but I just feel something utterly big is missing, and I cannot just pinpoint what.

Anyway, let's talk about this outfit.

Jhet and I are such huge fans of Bestie and her unique sense of style. This one's actually inspired by her. I love how unafraid she always is to put together pieces that the regulars around just don't think would match, like a denim polo shirt and pleated vintage skirt. But don't you think there's something pretty and exciting behind incompatibility?

When in Doubt Wear Red

Red. Not a big fan of the color, but not a no-no for me. Having heard of the famous quote, “When in doubt, wear red” made me intrigued and go looked up Mr Google. Red color meaning. Color Psychology defines it as "energizing; and excites the emotions and motivates us to take action." Motivates us to take action. That explains it! Haha! Oh, what a great way to cut the long decision making habit of "what to wear to work."

Stand out by mixing contrasting colors! It'll totally perk you up. :)

So when in doubt, wear red! Don't worry about it. It makes a statement on its own. Wink!

Breather

A vacation is what you take when you can no longer take what you've been taking.  ~Earl Wilson

Last week was my vacation week, or shall I say work-at-home-while-enjoying-the-seven-days-birthday week, and I still can’t believe it’s all over. Awww. But the weekend was indeed the greatest. We went off out of town to enjoy the rest of the day. We badly needed a quick breather from our busy lives at work. Thank God we were finally able to do it!

Wearing this chaleco makes me feel like I'm at work. Ok I admit, I miss work. I am happy that I finally had my vacation. Now work seems to be less tiring. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

What's the Catch?

I know there just has to be one!

Things going perfectly as planned, dreams slowly coming to realization, immediate goals at the fingertips; so what's the catch? This is not it, is it?

Okay, enough of my drama! Things are just not very well these days, so please excuse my childish whines.

Here's another LBD that is my current favorite. The peek-a-boo at the back caught my fancy. It also has just the right length - not too skimpy, not too long - just right for a teacher who doesn't want to deviate the students' attention away from the class discussion and onto some displayed skin.

To add some pops of colors into the look, I wore this neon combo and this studded pink belt that I recently got from a bazaar in Cebu.

Jhet and I are into some kind of an adventure this week - the search for the perfect Christmas outfit. Wish us luck!

Every great dream begins with a dreamer

If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflating our conceits?

Officially 23

A year older and it seems nothing has ever changed. Hmmm..I think. And this is probably the part where I look back on to the so many things I did last year, my regrets and gratefulness, and my so called future plans and blahblah. Oh, I’m gonna have to spare you on those thoughts. Haha!

Twenty two was fun and exciting with a bit of the challenging and tough days of life. It just took one day and I’m a year older. A year, older... Oh puhleez! So what if I’m a “year” older, if we’re a “year” older? Well, I thank you Thee for giving it to me. Let’s continue the other days of life now that I’m twenty three! Woot!

But then so much have happened in my life but as they say, live in the present. So here I am, with my best of friends, happy, contented, loved and cared for. What else could I ask for? Instead of making a list of all the wounded, unhappy thoughts I have had, why not run through the happy ones instead. Through everything of course, I thank the Lord, my shield from the endless storms.

So now that I am officially twenty three, definitely dressin’ up more but still the same old childish jhet me. I can’t live without her!
